Birdy concert (17 april, 7:30 pm)

The young British artist will present her fourth album, Young Heart, in two shows in Spain. Her European tour began in March in Germany and just one month later Birdy’s fans will be able to enjoy her new songs in Spain, on 17 April at La Riviera in Madrid and 18 April at Razzamtazz in Barcelona. Tickets are already available at entradas.com and you can get them from 30€.

Rita’s Brunch (saturdays and sundays of the whole month)

It’s possible to have brunch in the fresh air and enjoy the views of Madrid’s skyline. Every Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy a combination of live music and gastronomy at Autocine Madrid Fever from 12:00 am. The space has more than 25,000m² where you will find many food trucks with international food, a great selection of cocktails and DJs that will make the brunch a unique experience.

We Will Rock You! (all month)

The Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío hosts a musical based on the songs of the British band Queen. Produced by Brian May and Roger Taylor, they will make you dance and sing with more than 24 of the band’s world-famous hits sung in English, such as I Want to Break Free, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You. These songs are the common theme of a story set in a utopian future where music is forbidden and a few rebel rockers fight through rock to return to it.

El cristal es mi piel (until 9 april)

If you still haven’t visited ‘El cristal es mi piel’, the current exhibition at the Palacio de Cristal in the Retiro Park, you have until 9 April to do it. The Museo Reina Sofía presents the latest project by artists Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz, who have been working together since 2007. The exhibition recreates a scenography built through platforms with mirrors that allow the palace to become the protagonist of the scene.

Flamenco Real (from 12 to 14 april)

The most relevant artists of modern flamenco will appear in the tablao of the Teatro Real, confirming the presence of this genre in its ballroom. In April María Moreno presents “Versos libre” a show where the protagonist will travel to her roots to get to a new, more vanguard and modern flamenco. Tickets are available from 29€ and you can get them through the Fever website.

Re-watch Oscar and Goya nominated and winning films (all month)

If you missed the most popular films of 2022, Sala Equis gives you the opportunity to see the nominated films and winners of cinematic awards such as the Oscars and the Goyas. Routes to discover de nature (15 april)

La casa encendida takes you on a route to the Cabañeros National Park. A group of guides with almost 20 years of experience in the area of environmental education and divulgation will be in charge of coordinating the excursion through the mountains of the National Park to reach El Chorro de los Navalucillos, a spectacular 18-metre high waterfall. The cost of the excursion is €30 and you can book through their website until 3 April.

Fiesta de reggaeton viejo (8 april)

If you go out to party and the best moment of the night is when an old reggaeton song comes on, you can’t miss the cult party to all those great songs that takes place at Sala Zenith on the 8th of April. You can get your tickets now at dice.fm from €11.

La Noche de los Libros (21 april)

The Community of Madrid and the Biblioteca Histórica Municipal will celebrate on Friday 21 April La Noche de los Libros (The Night of Books). This year’s programme is not yet available but it is expected to be similar to last year’s edition, which included almost 400 activities such as interviews, theatre or literary routes, with the participation of authors, cultural institutions, bookshops and libraries. In addition, it will be possible to visit the deposits of the Biblioteca Histórica Municipal, which cannot be visited as usual.

Candlelight (all month)

Let yourself be surprised by the candlelight concerts performed by live musicians in the most iconic places in Madrid. Here are some of the concerts taking place this month that you can’t miss.

  • The Nutcracker at El Círculo de Bellas Artes (2 April).
  • Tribute to Ludovico Einaudi at the Four Seasons in Madrid (2 April).
  • Tribute to ABBA at El Círculo de Bellas Artes (9 April).
  • Tribute to Coldplay at the Palace Hotel in Madrid (9 April).

Legends. The Home of Football (from april 24)

Legends, the greatest football experience ever seen. LALIGA and other football institutions such as FIFA and UEFA have created a football exhibition that will cover 4,200 m² distributed over 7 floors in the heart of the Puerta del Sol. The exhibition will include more than 5,000 historical pieces, immersive experiences, a game area with the latest technology and a rooftop with a restaurant and the best views of the centre of the capital. Electrónica en Abril (from 13 to 16 april and 21 to 22 april)

On the 20th birthday of La Casa Encendida, the electronic music festival will be more extensive than in previous editions and will be divided into two weekends. The concerts will take place in the auditorium and in the courtyard of La Casa Encendida and will bring artists from a wide range of cultural backgrounds together, giving the audience the chance to enjoy very unique projects thanks to their different origins. Romeo y Julieta (premiere 15 april)

A reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s classic that reveals death is not the end of everything. An eighties Romeo and a well-preserved Juliet wake up many years later but do not know each other. What we thought was the end of a tragedy is nothing more than the beginning of a love story where the characters will try to discover what they are doing in that place and the thing that unites them. Tickets available from 6€ on the website of the Teatro Nacional.

Mamma Mia! The musical (all month)

If you’re looking for fun and non-stop singing and dancing, don’t miss the musical Mamma Mia! the comedy that will transport you to an idyllic Greek island and will make you excited with the greatest hits of ABBA. Margarita Azurdia. Margarita Rita Rica Dinamita (until 17 april)

Visit the first monographic exhibition in Europe dedicated to Margarita Azurdia, one of the most important Central American artists of the last century. In this exhibition you can contemplate multiple disciplines of the artist, such as painting and sculpture, in addition to personal notebooks with collages or poems through which you can see the artistic growth that she achieved between the 60s and 90s.

Film Symphony Orchestra (29 april)

The famous orchestra in charged of offering exclusively film music concerts returns to the city. They arrive in Madrid with their new Krypton tour in which more than 70 professional musicians will perform the most emblematic themes of superhero films such as Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America or The Incredibles.
