Hello Coliver!

November is here, and yes, it’s colder, the afternoons are getting shorter, and the sofa is calling your name… but that doesn’t mean you have to be bored. This month is perfect for catching up on timeless classics, whether on TV, in a book, listening to music, or exploring Madrid.

Here’s our super-friendly guide to things to do this November to make sure your month isn’t grey.

A Series

Friends
Yes, we know we’ve all seen it, but it never fails. It’s like spending the afternoon with your lifelong friends: laughter, romantic dramas, and endless coffee at Central Perk. Ideal for sofa marathons with a blanket and popcorn.
📌 Available on: HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video

Breaking Bad
The story of Walter White is simply addictive. What starts as a boring chemistry teacher turns into a drug lord, and you can’t stop watching. Perfect for long November nights that call for tension and impossible twists.
📌 Available on: Netflix

The Office
Uncomfortable humour, ridiculous situations and characters that feel real (yes, Dwight is a character to love and hate at the same time). Each episode is short, so it’s perfect for switching off and laughing without thinking too much.
📌 Available on: Netflix

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Action, teen drama and vampires everywhere. Although it’s a classic from the 90s, it’s just as addictive as it was on day one. What’s more, Buffy is the heroine we all need in autumn, fighting monsters and life at the same time.
📌 Available on: Disney+

Mad Men
Elegance, style and drama that slowly draws you in. If you enjoy watching complex characters and intelligent dialogue while soaking up the retro style of the 60s, this is the series for you. Ideal for autumn afternoons with a cup of coffee in hand.
📌 Available on: Apple TV+

A Film

The Godfather (1972)
Mafia, family and drama galore. Every scene is cinema history, and even if you’ve seen it a thousand times, there’s always something new to notice. Perfect for getting cosy on the sofa and letting yourself be carried away by the Corleones.
📌 Available on: Netflix

Forrest Gump (1994)
Forrest’s story is an emotional journey: laughter, tears and nostalgia. It reminds you that life is unpredictable and that sometimes the simple details make all the difference. Ideal for rainy November days.
📌 Available on: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video

Casablanca (1942)
Love, war and impossible decisions. Yes, it’s an old classic, but its lines, scenes and characters are still pure gold. A perfect film for feeling that romantic magic that only the classics have.
📌 Available on: HBO Max, Movistar Plus+

Jurassic Park (1993)
Dinosaurs, adventure and tension galore. Spielberg nailed it: action, fear and awe that still makes you jump off the sofa. Ideal for an autumn afternoon with a blanket and popcorn.
📌 Available on: Disney+

Pulp Fiction (1994)
Tarantino at his best: intertwined stories, memorable dialogue and addictive black humour. Perfect if you want something different and fast-paced, for those nights when you’re looking for excitement and fun at the same time.
📌 Available on: Netflix

A Book

1984 – George Orwell
Pure dystopia that leaves you thinking. Ideal for reading with rain outside and a cup of tea in your hand. It makes you reflect on society and freedom, but without losing the hook of the story.

The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald
Luxury, parties, impossible love… and a touch of nostalgia. Perfect for transporting you to the Roaring Twenties and dreaming a little while it’s cold outside.

To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee
A story about justice, morality and growing up in a complicated world. Scout and Atticus stay with you long after you close the book, and it’s perfect for those days when you want something profound but easy to read.

Crime and Punishment – Fyodor Dostoevsky
An intense novel about guilt and redemption. It’s not light reading, but it’s so gripping that you lose track of time. Ideal if you want something to completely absorb you this November.

Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
Romance, humour and endearing characters that never go out of style. Elizabeth Bennet is the quintessential autumn heroine: sarcastic, intelligent and charming.

A Song

Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
Epic, theatrical and so much fun that you want to sing at the top of your lungs even if you’re alone in your room. Ideal for those rainy days when you need an energy boost, or to accompany a walk with headphones on while the leaves fall on the street. Each change of rhythm is like a roller coaster of emotions that never gets old.

Imagine – John Lennon
Calm, reflective and with a message that is as powerful today as it was on the first day. Perfect for those moments when you’re in introspective mode, looking at the city from the window, thinking about life or simply enjoying a hot coffee. It’s one of those songs that calms you down and makes you feel a little more connected to everything.

Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
Pure rebellion and 90s grunge that reminds you of the energy of being young and carefree. Perfect for days when you want to clear your mind, turn up the volume to the max and let the music carry you away. It’s also great for autumn walks when you need an adrenaline rush in your day.

Billie Jean – Michael Jackson
Unmistakable rhythm, catchy melody and compulsory dancing, even if it’s in your living room. It’s one of those songs that always lifts your spirits, gets your feet moving and puts you in ‘let’s go’ mode. Ideal for those cloudy days when you need a little groove to cheer you up.

Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns N’ Roses
Unforgettable guitars, powerful vocals and a moving melody. It’s perfect for autumn walks, impromptu road trips or simply closing your eyes and letting the music envelop you while you think about good memories. It gives you that warm feeling of nostalgia and energy at the same time, like a musical hug.

A Plan

Madrid

Walk through Retiro Park
Autumn in Retiro is pure magic: crisp leaves underfoot, golden light filtering through the trees, and benches perfect for sitting down to read or simply enjoying the moment. You can grab a coffee to go, take cool photos for Instagram, or lose yourself on the paths while breathing in the fresh air. It’s a simple plan, but one that always recharges your batteries.

Prado Museum
If you like art, an afternoon among Velázquez, Goya and Rubens is a great plan. The Prado has works that take you back in time and make you feel stories that seem alive. Perfect for a grey November day, when you want something quiet but enriching, and leave with the feeling of having learned and enjoyed yourself at the same time.

Chocolatería San Ginés
A classic and comforting plan: hot chocolate and freshly made churros. Ideal for sharing with friends or treating yourself, especially after a cold walk through Madrid. It’s one of those plans that makes you feel like you’re living the city to the fullest, enjoying small pleasures that never fail.

Teatro Español or Teatro de la Zarzuela
A classic play can be much more exciting than you think. Whether it’s theatre or zarzuela, these venues retain the charm of tradition, but with stories that continue to connect with audiences. Perfect for breaking out of your routine, letting yourself be surprised and enjoying a different kind of cultural afternoon, while autumn creeps in through the theatre windows.

Stroll through Malasaña and its cafés
Wandering through Malasaña is a great autumn plan: vintage shops, murals that make you want to take photos, and lots of cosy cafés and bars where you can stop to rest and have a hot drink. It’s perfect for getting lost, discovering cool corners of the city and feeling that alternative and creative atmosphere that makes Madrid unique.

So, this November, there are no excuses for getting bored: TV series, books, good music and great plans galore. Autumn is yours, so get out there and enjoy it!
